Since the Resort 2017 shows are in full swing, check out some of my favorite shows of the season so far. Let me know in the comments what your favorite shows have been!
In a word, Rosie Assoulin’s Resort show was fun! Filled with eccentric feminine details, a Cuban influence, and natural styling, every look is perfect for the warm weather. I especially loved the ruffled tiers featured on a few different dresses and skirts. There were also some really fun puffy sleeve detailing that Rosie named after mushrooms for their unique shape.
These clothes are crazy, but I love them. While I’m not always a huge fan of Cavalli, this collection really seemed to get it right. Peter Dundas described the collection’s inspiration as “She’s a rock goddess and a summer traveler.” It’s as simple as that. Each piece feels completely unique, like a one-of-a-kind flea market find from some faraway country. While these pieces aren’t exactly designed for everyday, the loose, effortless shapes echo the hopes of many women who want to look amazing while not allowing their clothes to hold them back, whether they’re traveling, dancing, or performing.
This collection is seriously drool-worthy. Every piece. I am not exaggerating. Somehow each dreamy look is simultaneously aspirational and uber-wearable. For this show, Josep Font was primarily inspired by abstract sculptor Anthony Caro and Georges Melies, whose name you might recognize as director of A Trip to the Moon. These seemed to mesh perfectly with Delpozo’s consistently structured and bright aesthetic. My favorite pieces were the oversized kimono-like jackets that I can see being worn over anything from skinny jeans to a gown. I definitely recommend checking out the entire collection!
