Spring semester is finally over and I feel like I can breathe again. This was definitely one of the most challenging semesters yet since I’ve been in college. Since I am in design school, I am constantly balancing 4 or 5 projects at a time. While it wasn’t easy (I drank more coffee this last week, than I ever have in my entire life), I will admit it was fun. I learned how to put motifs I’ve hand drawn into a computer app called Kaledo, and turn it into prints that I ended up getting physical swatches of on silk fabric. I discovered a new love for researching current happenings and forecasting future implications in my trends class, and I found that I prefer draping on a form to create garments, rather than starting with a flat paper pattern and yucky math first. I could go on and on. It’s a great feeling to be happy in the major I chose, and be satisfied in knowing that I am in the right place at the right time. With all of that being said, I am ready to relax!!! I have a lot planned for this summer: a fancy new job at a brand design agency downtown where I’ll be working with the trends team, more clients for my styling business, and teaming up with photographers around the city for more photoshoots like the one below for this blog.
I first came across Louis Rideout on his Instagram page, and knew I’d have to keep his name in my back pocket to collaborate with in the future. His photography is stunning! I love the way he plays with different angles to achieve a unique perspective. While he shoots mostly landscape and portraits, he was more than happy to switch gears and do some fashion photography. View his work here!
What a day it was to be able to wear a dress without being freezing. I am loving this warmer weather. This outfit is centered around this floaty black lace dress from Tobi. It’s no surprise that I was attracted to the cold shoulder (as shown Here, Here, and Here). If you’ve never shopped there before, you’re in luck because they give first-timers 50% their purchase. They’ve got a lot of cute clothes on their site, so I’d highly recommend giving it a look. This dress is pretty low in the front and the back, so I wore a black lace barrette underneath. I threw on this thrifted denim jacket for good measure. In terms of my accessories: I love wearing my 7 Charming Sisters jewelry. The longer necklace I am wearing is from there, and I tucked it inside instead of wearing it out to keep things subtle. I thought these earrings from them worked well with this head wrap from The Wrap Life. And can we talk about these glasses?? I feel way too cool for school wearing them. I’m actually writing a full blog post on these sunnies plus a couple more I found here, so stay tuned.
