How to Travel Comfortably

Q: What do I wear on the airplane?

“I’m leaving for Hawaii in a few days and I was wondering if you had any advice or suggestions of what to wear on the airplane. I think I want to wear leggings but I need some advice on shoes/shirt/bag and stuff. I probably wanna wear my Rainbows (a brand of flip flops) because its going to be summer. Thanks so much for the advice!!!”

A: Dear “Smell of Sunshine” and all other girls who are stuck in this rut,
I have complied the perfect pairings for you!  Traveling is hard enough without having to stress about what you have on.  When you step into that airport you should feel confident, pretty, stress free and COMFORTABLE.  I have stepped on a few planes over the years so I have tried out every possible outfit and some were hits while many were misses!  You can be casual and comfortable without sacrificing style.  Here is how:
1. Leggings, you are allowed to wear them as pants as long as you shirt covers your bottom, it hits right at the top of your bottom or the leggings fit you properly and the shirt hits right at the top.  One item you should try to avoid wearing is a crop top, however much adorable it is , it is not appropriate for flying.
2.  Pick out a stylish shirt.  You can wear peplum tops, a loose racer-back, a tie front denim button up, a chiffon shirt, or even a nice dress shirt (not shown).
3.  Mix prints with solids.  If you want to wear skull leggings pair them with a pink top or floral leggings with a solid button up.
4.  Make sure your shoes slip on and off! Walk around all day in them before hand so that you know where blisters might pop up and if you can handle them all day!
 5.  Make sure you pack a sweater or blazer because planes can get very cold and the blankets may not be available (and they are not very clean).
 6.   Lastly make sure your purse and/or bag are easy to carry!  If you have a long layover or multiple plan changes you are not going to want to lug around a heavy bag.  There is also a limited amount of storage on the plane and you do not want to take up more than your share of space.
** All these tips can apply to road trips as well!  I hope everyone has a great vacation as this lovely summer comes to an end.

Winners of “What Would You Wear to a Day at the Beach?”

“Lets Go To The Beach”
Created by rosa-spiralingstar

In first place was rosa-spiralingstar who chose a nautical bikini, celebrity style sunglasses, glam sandals and a cropped top for her beach look. I love that she thought to add sunscreen (an accessory just as important as the nail polish and charm bracelet she also added)!

“Honeymoon III”

In second was racheljay. I loved the bohemian feel her beach outfit gave off. A white maxi skirt, straw hat, floral suit and a nook all gave off signs of a great vacation!

In third place was sunnybunny09 who featured a bright ruched one-piece (a great eye-catcher), a tunic coverup, a wide-brimmed hat and a straw bag– now that’s what I call a classic look for a day at the beach!

Congrats to all of you ladies! For those of you who didn’t join this contest and want to be apart of the next Polyvore contest and get a chance to be featured on the blog, follow my group and wait to be notified when there’s a new contest :)

Summer’s Most Popular Nail Polish Shades According to the University of Oxford

I don’t know about you but I’ve always been a huge fan of nail polishes and I can’t stop drooling over each and every color I lay my eyes on, however not all colors are appropriate for summer. Summer’s most popular shades seem to be divided into two color categories:  orange/fuchsia hues and blue/green hues.

According to research made by the University of Oxford (yes they actually care about nail polishes!) the most popular red/fuchsia hues are the ones shown here: mulberry pink, salmon and tangerine orange. Also according to the University of Oxford each of these colors represents a feeling.

  • Mulberry Pink= Happiness
  • Salmon= Romance
  • Tangerine= Energy.

Turquoise, blue-green and mint were picked by 1,900 women and girls of 20 to 30 years old with mint getting the first place by 987 votes. Each of these colors also represents a feeling:

  • Mint= Calm
  • Turquoise= Energy
  • Blue-Green= Dreamy

Who knew that our nail polish shades can represent a particular feeling?

But what’s the shade of nail polish the majority of the women picked?? Red? Pink? Think again!

2,100 women picked orange as their fave color for summer marking it as the most popular color of the 21st century; It’s been picked by women for more than 4 years.
