Name: Muska Jahan
City: Houston, TX
Jahan is the sole proprietor of Duke of Jahan Jewelry, she does everything from designing and making the jewelry to maintaining the store. “I enjoy every step of the Etsy selling process, but there is nothing better than sitting down and creating what you love. My philosophy on designing jewelry is to be creative, innovative, and unique. If you are tired of the mass produced pieces that are sold everywhere else, I am the person to go to. The type of girl that buys from me is an independent thinker and finds her own trends.”
Jahan started her shop in the hopes of having a creative outlet that would grant him some profit as well. “At first, I had no idea how to make jewelry, but I was dead set on learning so I read a lot of books and watched a lot of videos to pick up some techniques, tips, and tricks.”
Starting off by making body harnesses, “because I love using chain….it is so fluid in movement yet solid in structure” Jahan began to really enjoy coming up with new designs and getting a “warm fuzzy feeling” when creating a piece that really complements a woman’s body. “Initially, I was really afraid to invest hundreds of dollars into a business as a nearly broke 19-year-old, but I have become more comfortable with the process as I have begun to profit from my efforts.”
Currently, Jahan is working to expand her line. “I have branched out into making wire rings, necklaces, ear cuffs, slave bracelets, and bangles, but I am striving to create even more beautiful types of jewelry pieces.”
You can connect with Jahan in via her blog, twitter, or facebook.

A few weeks ago we had one of my dad’s friends visit and stay with us for the weekend. Turns out in her free time she is a high fashion photographer as well as a jewelry designer/author/professor. I actually did an interview with her a while back. She offered to do a photoshoot with me while she was still in town! It was such a great experience to have a photographer who I don’t have to direct (usually family or friends take my pictures).
The photos above are my favorites from this outfit; (I changed in the car for the other two outfits as we drove to different locations) lookout for the other photos coming to the blog over the next couple of weeks!
