DOTS “Love the Looks. Love the Prices.”

A few weeks ago I got an email from one of the media relations contacts (Teresa) at DOTS clothing store inviting me to be given a walkthrough of their store. I knew very little bit about DOTS, mainly being that it is next to Target, and it is an affordable clothing store for  teens/young women.  I replied with a yes, because I knew that this would be a great opportunity for me to go in and see what it really was about.

So, everything was scheduled and I was set to meet with the manager at my local DOTS store. I brought along one of our families Nikon cameras and was ready to go! Below is a slideshow of my tour, what I saw and the latest summer fashion trends…

I was taken around the store and snapped pictures as the manager told me about the trends that were happening right now (lots of bright colors, animal prints, neons and colbalt) and the current sales that were going on. One of the unique things about DOTS is that they also carry “plus” sizes. They go from sizes 0-24, which is rare to find in such a trendy teen clothing store. DOTS even carries “plus” size jewelry (bracelets and rings) which is something I never knew existed until then.

After my tour I decided the best way to see if I really liked their clothing was to try it on for myself. So, I dashed around the store picking up anything that caught my eye and tried to create a few looks. I took a few phone-in-the-mirror pics just for you, so you can get a feel for how it looks on.

I actually really liked this maxi dress although I don’t usually wear this color often. The fit was amazing as well, it felt so light and simple. This was only $14.80!

This lace dress is so cute and dressy! Just my style. I think it’s a little short on me though. You can’t beat $19.80…

I’ve been looking for a leather or denim vest for summer and I was so happy to find it on the sale rack for only $10 I want to say

The cutouts on this sheer sleeveles top are super chic and I again, am loving the cobalt color of this sheer maxi skirt. The two colors together are perfect for colorblocking, don’t you think!?

What  I love most about DOTS is that it coincides with everything Inexpensive Chic stands for. There motto is “Looking good shouldn’t be expensive,” I couldn’t agree more! When I asked what their highest price point was, I was told $30 for an item. That’s crazy!! I was expecting maybe $50 or less, but $30 sounds much better; less of a strain on your wallet…

I’m really appreciative of the associates, manager and Teresa for setting this up and welcoming me to the store. I hope you guys check it out for yourselves!

Street Style: Meet Jay

Meet Jay Adams, age 20 from Ottawa, Ontario…

Describe your style: Comfortably polished.  I enjoy bold patterns, sheer and frilly material and anything with a touch of femininity.

Last item of clothing you bought and for how much? The last item of clothing I bought was a snake skin print (and super light weight), trench coat from a Jones New York Outlet I went to with my mom.  It was originally $195, marked down to the low cost of $29.

Dream Job? My dream job is to be an editor of a fashion magazine.

Your fashion inspiration? I take inspiration from basically everything around me; the people I meet and their styles, magazines, art, DIY projects and even being outside in nature.

Something about yourself most people don’t know: I would love to spend time abroad, ideally somewhere in Europe, studying and experiencing fashion at some point in my life.

What color do you own most of: With a fear of sounding boring I’m going to exempt black and white on the technicality that they are shades; in that case, my closet consists of a surprisingly large amount of red and pink.

Fav stores: Zara, H&M, rag & bone, Joe Fresh, thrift

One outfit you couldn’t live without? A maxi dress, or any kind of summer dress for that matter

Fav designer? Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, up-and-coming designer Isobel Walker for frAsh

Fashion mantra? Dictate your own style

I love the details Jay puts into each outfit. So, what do you think of Jay’s style? Let us know in the comments below.
