Street Style: Meet Alexa

Meet Alexa Bennett, age 23 from Connecticut / Florida…

Describe your style: My style truly depends on my mood. Some days I like to wear bohemian inspired outfits. These consist of ikat prints, maxis, beaded bracelets, and natural curly hair. Other days, I tend to lean more to rocker-esque clothes. For example, studded bracelets, platform heels, and of course leather.

Last item of clothing you bought and for how much? I bought a floral skirt from Nordstrom for $60. I envision wearing it with my denim vest and lots of accessories.

Dream Job? I would love to be a stylist or working in the accessories department of a fashion magazine.
Your fashion inspiration? I find inspiration everywhere. I am inspired by window displays, street style, fellow fashion bloggers, my friends, and most importantly my mom. She has always had such amazing style and is a great shopping partner!

Something about yourself most people don’t know: I have two: I am currently attending graduate school working towards a masters in elementary education and I eat a gluten free diet.

What color do you own most of: The majority of my clothes are black. I have been trying, over the past year, to add more colors and patterns into my wardrobe, and I think I’m doing a great job! The colors I gravitate towards most are purples and oranges.
Fav stores: I love Madewell— the majority of the clothes in my closet are Madewell. I love the style of the store and the downtown vibe that it has. I even get inspired by the displays at Madewell— last summer at their lower 5th Avenue location, they displayed clothes using vintage suitcases! I also do a lot of shopping at Zara and H&M, and at Henri Bendel for inspiration and beautiful jewels.

One outfit you couldn’t live without? I cannot live without my Theory leather jacket. I know that’s not a complete outfit but I wear it almost daily.

Fav designer? I love Alexander McQueen, Catherine Maladrino, and Diane Von Furstenberg

Fav fashion mag? My favorite magazines are W, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar

Fashion mantra? Fashion has no rules.
Any other info we should know? Bright and Sassy was the name of my grandmother’s clothing store, New York City is my favorite place to be, and I love working with children.
