The Statement Necklace

h

This collar necklace was one of my purchases from Black Friday (Forever21). I was really excited when I found it, because I’ve been looking for a similar one for a while now! Statement necklaces are one of my favorite ways to accessorize, and this one changes the look completely. The crocheted sweater was another one of my Black Friday purchases (Old Navy). Overall, I felt comfortable, yet stylish!

My Thanksgiving In Pictures (and a few words too!)

Everyone had their own question at their place, we went around and everyone at the table had to answer. This questions reads “What’s the best present you’ve ever recieved?”

Mmmm… desserts! Sweet potato pies, chocolate covered strawberries and beignets (not pictured) were on the menu.

What I wore…

This Thanksgiving was spent with my best friend/”sister” and her family. Her family is from D.R. Congo and provided authentic African dishes; while our family made the traditional American Thanksgiving food. Everything was so delicious and we had a great time! Unfortunately, I have to go back to school tomorrow :(

I cannot wait for Winter break…!

Project Inspiration

I had an exclusive talk with Alice Zhang about the craft/jewelry design business she started with her friend Sandra, after Alice’s grandfather passed away from lung cancer.

Our mission: Working to support the mission to save lives and eliminate suffering from cancer is not our only goal. Willpower and determination is the true empowerment of the fight. Therefore, as we persist, we aim to inspire the community and bring hope to those who are fighting back against cancer.

Both girls are 16 years old, and high school juniors from Southern California. They started Project Inspiration this past July. Not only did they start this business because they were inspired by Alice’s grandfather’s fight against lung cancer, but they said, “We wanted to utilize our various skills to benefit the community.”

When I asked her what kind of crafts do they make, she replied “We make feather and bead jewelry for now, but plan to add in cell phone charms, scarfs, other types of jewelry, etc.We usually get our materials from local craft stores or order them online. It takes around twenty to forty minutes to make each piece, depending on the difficulty. Sometimes when we’re trying out something new, it would take up to an hour or an hour and a half (to make a piece). But in the end, since it’s for a good cause, the time we put in is well worth it.”

What these girls are doing is really inspirational. ”We split up the proceeds earned from the products in two halves. One half goes directly to the American Cancer Society. The other half goes to Project Inspiration. This fund is used to buy more materials, keep this website going, publicize (business cards, buttons, etc), and more, so that we not just donate, but keep donating.” Although their business is new, it’s already becoming successful. I wanted to know what their short term/long term goals were.

Short term: Our goal is to raise money for cancer societies, which would benefit the cancer-affected in various ways intended by the cancer societies.
Long term: We aim to inspire those who have been affected by cancer and spread hope, and show that everyone has the potential to make a difference. To achieve this, we also plan to visit local cancer hospitals and centers.

The last thing Alice said really hit home. She stated, “I feel that many people are opposed to supporting and ordering items from individual vendors, and I’d like to suggest thinking twice before walking away, because this really is not only trustworthy but also a way for you to help make a difference.”

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for my friends and family, the success of my blog, my dedicated readers, and the little things I take for granted everyday; like having clothes on my back and food in my mouth. What are you thankful for? Enjoy a day full of family, thanks and great food :)

Get Inspired!

1. There’s no way I’d be able to wear these Glittery Wedges, but they remind me of the Holiday season. 2. I love how candid this picture looks. Check out her makeup! The fuscia lips would work perfect for a holiday makeup look. 3. What a practical idea! This closet is out in the open and creates a fairytale effect that I wouldn’t want to end. 4. I really like this quote. I feel like a lot of people who don’t understand or care about fashion think it’s a waste of time, but really, it’s just apart of who we are and how we express ourselves. 5. Running out of hairstyle ideas? This one is quick and easy, but the result looks polished.

3 Ways To Wear It: Sweater Dress

1. Preppy Chic
Pair a button down top underneath the dress so the collar is the only think showing (if the sleeves from this shirt are still showing, cuff them over the sleeves of your sweater dress). Next, lift up your collar and layer a collar necklace underneath, pull the collar down over top so the back of the necklace won’t show. Add a fun pop of color with your socks, let them peek out from your boots.
2. Urban Classic
Throw on a denim vest over your dress and wear pleather pants or liquid leggings underneath. Just add a beanie hat and some cute sparkly sneaks, and you’re out the door!

3. Downtown Girl
This personally, is my favorite way to wear a sweater dress. Circle a scarf around your neck, slip on some ankle booties and patterned tights. Sometimes a long necklace can add flair in addition to the scarf. A plum-colored lipstick never gets old.

Street Style: Meet Eda

Meet Eda, age19 from Leeds…

Describe your style: As much as a trend lover I am, there’s no such thing as what’s ‘in’ and what’s ‘out’ – it’s all about what looks fabulous on and of course originality. I love detailing and items that you don’t see throughout most stores – sequins, pearls and anything that oozes glamour. It’s all about wearing statement pieces that turn heads – but at the same time I can be a girl of jeans and t-shirt mentality too.

Last item of clothing bought and how much for: Dalmation print coat (very Cruelle-esque indeed) and it was £98

Dream Job: Fashion Stylist/Full time fashion blogger/Fashion Writer

Fashion Inspiration: Women who have no fear where fashion is concerned, the likes Anna Dello Russo and Lady Gaga in particular. But also those who respresent classic and chic such as Audrey Hepburn.Something about yourself most people don’t know: I fed my fashion addiction from the age of 11 by having a numerous amount of jobs including a car washing round.

What Colour Do You Own The Most Of: As dreary and boring as it may sound…black! Flattering for the curves and matches perfectly with the majority of prints, materials and colours I own.

Favourite Stores: I am a high street lover, so my favourite stores include Topshop and River Island aswell as Zara. But anything beautiful I stumble among elsewhere is a bonus!

One outfit you couldn’t live without? This is tough, I often imagine a scenario of if I had 2 minutes to grab everything I could in a house fire what I would run out of the front door with. My black faux fur gilet and orange Hermes are definites but I most definitly couldn’t live with my collection of a-line dresses from Zara.Favourite fashion designer: Miu Miu and Karl Lagerfeld (for Chanel) are by far my favourite fashion houses. I am never disappointment by the collections that strut down the catwalk. Miu Miu is young, fun and feminine with beautiful collars and pretty colours and prints. Whereas Chanel is chic, timeless, classic and elegant, everything a woman wants to be observed as in my opinion.

Favourite Fashion Magazine: I was once a religious Vogue reader but the material seemed to become uninteresting in my eyes and I have since turned to the pages of ELLE UK and I love it!

Fashion Mantra: I want my style to be perceived as classy, chic, stylish and glamourous ♥
